"On sunny mornings when the sun is just rising you can see the Hurunui's dreams, you can see the sky, the sun, the clouds in the water, you can see the world." (Hurunui River)

"Juliet McLachlan is a young poet of depth and surprise. Her ideas arrive on the page with a strong sense of purpose to challenge and delight the reader." -- Kerrin P Sharpe "... imaginative beyond her years. Her lyrical explorative poems show well crafted control of both form and content, as well as a fine feeling for words. A most impressive debut. -- Barry Southam
